1. Travertine Pools, Pamukkale, Turkey

Pamukkale has been famous as a spa city science ancient times. What outclasses these hot water pools from other thermal waterbodies is their varying temperature which ranges from 35 degree celsius to 100 degree celsius. Apart from this, another attraction of this site is the travertine i.e., mountains made of limestone that surrounds the pools. And, atop the hillside, there are the remains of an ancient Greco-Roman city, named Hierapolis.

2. Lac Rose, Senegal

Situated near the capital city of Senegal, West Africa, Lake Retwa attracts visitor’s eye because of its vivid pink colour. As it is separated from the Atlantic ocean by only a thin strip of dunes, the water is saline. The locals consider it holy to take a bath in this lake, and even scientists have found its antioxidant properties due to the useful algae present in it. If you wonder how the colour of the lake is pink, then that is caused by the Dunaliella Salina bacteria.

3. The River of Five Colors, Colombia

Originally, named as the Rio Cano Cristales, this unique site is located in the Sierra de la Macarena region of Columbia. For most part of the year, the river looks identical to any other water bodies due to a bed of rocks overlaid with dull green mosses that give a beautiful light blue-green colour to it. However, for a short span between the rainy season and summer, a unique species of plant that envelopes the river floor turns a brilliant red. And, it is further offset by splotches of yellow and green sand, blue water, together giving the water five unique shades.

4. Jiuzhaigou Valley, China

Located in the north-western region of China, the Jiuzhaigou valley is filled with beautiful rivers, lakes, and is surrounding by snow-capped mountains. Chinese challenge that no place elsewhere has sceneries and fables of dreamlike eloquence or natural purities like it. Moreover, the area is famous for its evergreen forest, that consists 2,576 higher plants and over 400 lower plant species.

5. Erg Chebbi, Morocco

The dunes of Erg Chebbi spans over an area of 50 meters and reaches a height of up 150 meters at places. The giant hills of smooth apricot-toned sand line the Algerian border and are a wonderful place to visit during winters. Many companies offer overnight camel trips from Merzouga to the desert. The weather of the place is seasonal, however, when sandstorms with winds arrive, they create a hissing sound so strong they may take you by surprise.

6. Mount Bromo, Indonesia

Located in the middle of the “Sea of Sand,” a protected natural reserve since 1919, Mount Bromo is the only active volcano in Indonesia. It beckons majestically, especially during the sunrise. The entire top of this 2329 meters high hill has been blown off, and there is a crater inside that always emits white smoke. The best way to visit this place is from the nearby mountain village of Cemoro Lawang, that is hardly seven kms away from it.

7. Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

Famous for its limestone hills, emerald water, rainforests, and biodiversity, Ha Long Bay is situated in the Van Don District of Vietnam. It offers many adventure games, such as scuba diving, rock climbing, and hiking. There are more than 1,600 islets in the bay, some of which have their own lakes.
